Literature Text

I dreamt I got a full-ride scholarship from an extension of the Catholic School I used to go to
I of course wanted nothing of it, yet I was forced by my family to accept
So as I was lead around in an orientation tour, the solution came like the answer to a prayer
Two frat boys who dawdled in the back of the group made jokes about one another being virgins
The tour guide stopped in her tracks and said,
“Boys, we only use the word “virgin” when referring to the Blessed Virgin Mary, otherwise it’s improper”
without even thinking, I responded,
“But if I can’t say “virgin” then how will I be able to thoroughly discuss virginity as a societal construct which is unfortunately upheld due to our culture being built around heteronormativity and shame?”
With that comment, I pushed every one of the administration’s buttons and got myself preemptively expelled
So I rejoiced in my triumph by going to the Guthrie and watching a once banned Oscar Wilde play
